Geography and environment

Jamaica is a beautiful place; it is the third largest island in the Caribbean. The capital is Kingston; Kingston harbour is the seventh largest harbour in the world.  When we were there the climate was very hot, but when we went to the inland it was warmer. Jamaica is near the hurricane belt of the Atlantic Ocean, so sometimes the island suffers of storm damage. 31,1% of the land consists of forest. Compared with Norway`s area, Jamaica has more forest.

We went to the Blue Mountain Peak , it is the biggest mountain in Jamaica. It is a big forest around the the mountain so we went there for an expedition. We had a guid with us to shows us the way and to tell us about the animals we saw.
The way up the mountain we saw a bird called cling cling also known as blackbird, it was black and had one yellow dot on it. After a while we so the bird nightingale, the bird flew away when we tried to take a picture of it, but the bird was very cute, it was light brown but the wings were more dark brown. When we went deeper into the forest we luckily found a Jamaican Boa also known as the yellow snake, when we saw  it Steffani and Hirya jumped up and down and told rest of us to kill the big snake ,but we could not kill it because it was a threatened animal so it was protected, so we took a picture and went around the snake. The guide told us that we should be careful if where came near the river falls because it can be crocodile there, even if there are rare to find in Jamaica.
The tour went well up to the mountain and down again. The climate in Jamaica is supporting for ecosystem, plants and the animals, that is why the animals is living there peacefully. Some of the animals come from America, crocodile is the biggest reptile in Jamaica, and the crocodile that lives in Jamaica is called American crocodile, and this crocodile has come from America to Jamaica. Light blue sea is surrounded Jamaica, and the sea is full of friendly sea turtles even if some of them can be a little problem sometimes

Jamaica is full of beautiful animals and climate and we are very happy for that we came here and went an expedition to the blue mountain peak.
